ROOFING OPTIONS

At J.C. Jones & Co., we use the best materials the roofing industry has to offer.

TPO

Thermoplastic Polyolefins (TPO) roofing systems are composed of resin blends of a thermoplastic and an elastomer, and offer many benefits to your commercial project. TPO is impact-, chemical-, and UV-resistant, as well as energy-efficient. These characteristics allow TPO to perform well in almost any environment.

PVC

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) roofing systems are composed of ethylene and chlorine. PVC, like TPO, is classified as a thermoplastic and has been used for more than 50 years. PVC contains a lower percentage of petroleum than other low-slope roofing systems. PVC is extremely wind, chemical, and solar resistant, as well as flexible, which makes this material a great solution for virtually any shape of roof.

SBS-Modified Roofing

Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) modified roofing systems are composed of asphalt, the SBS synthetic rubber and the bitumen filler. The SBS system is known for its high softening point (270 F), cold temperature flexibility (-22 F), and elongation (stretchiness). Application methods include hot asphalt, heat welding, and self-adhesion. For safety reasons, we typically use self-adhering SBS membranes, which are useful in environments where there are significant temperature fluctuations.

EPDM

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomers (EPDM) is an elastomer composed of ethylene, propylene and a trace amount of diene monomer, and one of the most durable roofing systems on the market. EPDM can retain its physical properties for significant periods of time and is resistant to water runoff. EPDM is resistant to impacts, UV, weathering, and cyclic fatigue. EPDM systems include mechanically attached, fully adhered and ballasted installation methods.

BUR

Built-Up Roofing (BUR) roofing systems are also known as tar and gravel systems. The strength and durability of these systems is classified by the number of roofing felt layers installed (typically three or five to create IV-ply and VI-ply membranes). BUR is composed of insulation, cover board, ply sheets/bonding agent, and gravel coating. The bonding agent uses is type IV oxidized asphalt, which attributes to many physical properties of this material, including resistance to wind, hail, and extreme UV radiation.
